Gauge or Speedometer chart is a very popular way to display a single metric in dashboard. In my opinion, they are a bad choice for depicting the status of one metric or KPI. You can use a better alternative like bullet chart or thermo-meter chart to show the same information with more context. One alternative is to show list of holidays that occur in the filtered date range in legend area of the dashboard. For this you need to use formulas. As a start, I suggested looking at range lookup article.

Besides that, I understand there is conditional formatting but I was wondering how the reference to the cell valGantstart links to show the "today line" for the gantt chart when the formula to show the "today line" on conditional formatting refers to this valGantstart. It looks lean and effective. Have a few critical questions to be able to use this. The excel seems to use colors to indicate the percentage complete. I've set up a spreadsheet which takes records the scoresheets easily turning them into tables and summarises them with formulas. My problem is that I need to get individual player statistics out of this for each game ie games played against each opponent and games won with percentages and totals. Most of the games are doubles so four players - there are 4 player columns to sort through.
This takes about 20 hours each competition to do. At the moment I'm filtering by player and reducing it down to individual player manually then turning that into a pivot table. Everything is working on tables and name text values. Do you know of any visual basic macro I can use to extract the results across four columns and analyse and summarise it by player?
I know this would be more easily handled by a database, but even the specifically designed badminton software they have can't deal with this.
